Description
Additional Information

AS 1530.4 is an Australian standard for fire resistance testing of building materials, components, and structures, fully titled "AS/NZS 1530.4: Methods for fire tests on building materials, components and structures - Fire resistance test of elements of construction." Below is relevant information:

AS1530.4 Australian Fire Resistance Test - Scope:

Applicable to various building materials, components, and structures, including walls, floors, roofs and ceilings, columns, beams, supports and trusses, door sets and shutter assemblies, non-insulated glazing, ducts, service penetrations and control joints, fire dampers, and air transfer grille assemblies, among others.

Note: For horizontal structural elements, the actual usage conditions should be considered to determine whether load-bearing capacity is required, ensuring closer alignment with real-world scenarios.

AS1530.4 Australian Fire Resistance Test - Criteria for Failure:

Loss of Integrity: Failure is deemed to occur when a cotton pad ignites or flames persist on the unexposed surface for more than 10 seconds;

During testing, if a 6mm diameter probe can penetrate through a gap into the furnace and move along the gap for a length of at least 150mm;

If a 25mm diameter probe can penetrate through a gap into the furnace, the specimen is considered to have lost integrity.

Loss of Insulation: Failure is deemed to occur when the average temperature rise on the unexposed surface exceeds the initial average surface temperature by 140°C, or when the temperature rise at any single point on the unexposed surface exceeds its initial temperature by 180°C.

AS1530.4 Australian Fire Resistance Test - Furnace Temperature Rise Curve:

Temperature increases vary at different time intervals;

Ambient at 0 min

843°C at 30min

927°C at 60min

1010°C at 120min or over
